Un Galop D' Entraînement. ❤❤❤❤❤ YVES SAINT MARTIN
I'd backed Kybo - absolutely cruising 2 out and stayed 2 and half. Couldn't believe he tipped over!
Did nomadic way go on to win at the Cheltenham Festival.
Clever Folly must have been an old-timer himself.
Indeed he was - fourteen at the time of this 28th career success, though as referred to in Iain's commentary Vulrory's Clown was a further two years his senior.
Simon holt best commentater around
any trouble out there???
What a fantastic race programme we had back then. Rehearsal Chase, ASW Chase, Mildmay Cazalet, Castleford. Triumph Hurdle the way it should be too.
Id been backing Forgive b Forget to win this for months. He was absolutely cruising until that dumb fkn dog appeared from nowhere. Awful that he died that day. He was my favourite horse for years.
Rice Raymond was a great jockey
Rooster Booster very impressive
Stay still he said ……from the three floor of the media centre
Tough as old boots
bbc racing in the old days was truly great
Tree tangle was prone to whack a few on the way round .Blunted his turn of foot .very good hurdler as well.
great ride on the second
Disgracefully underated Horse 😢
Julian Wilson gave his take during the BBC's 50 Not Out sports special. ruclips.net/video/99_sO4vKtas/видео.htmlsi=vFNFWbFBvQUPfcXN&t=4605
Ajdal was 3rd not Stately Don?
Ajdal was disqualified from 3rd place as Walter Swinburn failed to weigh in.
1990 was a superb year for Alan Munro. O'Gorman's TImeless TImes was notching up his winning sequence at this time.
Masterful Ride, no excuses. Roberto was an enigmatic Horse, but on a going day very hard to beat.
Thank you for posting this - brilliant day and the best memories
I remember it well. Got a Christmas Card that year with the Gold Cup on the front. Great race in wintery conditions.
Troy Great Horse
Great Horse
Teenoso had been all but written off after injury marred his post-Derby performances the year before, but the colt put this superb field to the sword. Remember that the runner-up Sadler's Wells won the Irish 2000 Guineas, the Eclipse and the Irish Champion that year. His owner, Robert Sangster, simply couldn't find the grace to accept that his colt had been bested by a better horse, and his post-race comments showed a very churlish side to him that gave lie to his "nice rich man about town" persona. Teenoso was rated at 135 by Timeform, the mark of a truly outstanding horse, while Sadler's Wells at 132 proved himself a top-class performer.
A Great Horse
A bonus Bill o Gorman video....any more please espmadrid very much welcomed...Alan Keith Munro...LEGEND❤❤❤❤
Great jockey
crazy
This was the race (I was a teenager at the time) that I realised how good a jockey Lester was. I didn't have a bet on Commanche Run, but thought at he time Oh So Sharp would win easily.
Why show this race? Was there and it was a terrible day
Good race that year. QM winner backing up & Turtle Island zooming home for third !!!
This was when there were Crowd's at race courses......Exciting, totally different todays Racing.
What a race it would be to have Dancing Brave, Zafonic, Frankel, Sea the Stars, Nashwan, Pennekamp, Nijinsky, El Gran Senor, Rodrigo De Triano, Rock of Gibralter, Kameko and Brigadier Gerrard in it...The question is....who would win? Forget the times of their respective races....just on their respective performances in the race.
Backed golan myself this day gallileo beat him upside down
Master trainer and jockey super horse 🐴 trained to perfection 💪😊
I remember watching this broadcast. This must have been the only year the BBC covered Down Royal.
Didn't he finish second to Don't Push It in the National when switches to Dessie Hughes??
What a race ! These tough old chasers battling it out to the line, but such a shame Amber Leigh House was pipped into second place, given a great ride by his brilliant jockey Graham Lee, himself very badly injured last year in a nasty fall on the flat.
Didn't used to get much chance to watch Irish jump racing on bbc back then, apart from the grand national and Ladbroke hurdle, plus occasional races from Leopardstown Christmas meeting. Interesting upload, cheers, do you have any more races from this broadcast?
A would say 6 furlongs out he would have been 1000/1 in running unbelievable last 3 furlongs
Enjoyed watching inaad in action, cheers
I can hardly ever remember Down Royal being on the TV, we had BBC Wales so maybe it was only on BBC NI

My favourite name for a horse of all time…benny the dip
Cauthen best piller to post flat jockey of all time
Mr Confusuion won this....fairly, was disqualified by people who know nothing about horses.or racing.
There were OTHER days for Pasternak 😉.. namely the Cambridgeshire where he was punted off the boards by his owner Mr Rock ! 👍🏴
Nobody could’ve called the winner at the furlong pole . That race used to be proper prestigious in its own right , sone really good horses went in to better things after that . Dunno if it still attracts top class improving 3yos any more though 🤷♂️ 👍🏴
Seven Towers a real stayer would beat anything today
